FOUNDATION SPOTLIGHT

Actors Theatre is honored to welcome The Norton Foundation as a partner in supporting its Education Department and the New Voices: Playwriting in the Schools program, which develops students’ literacy, empathy and self-image through dramatic writing. Originally founded in 1958, The Norton Foundation supports experiential and holistic education that encourages children’s social, emotional, intellectual, physical and ethical development, giving priority to programs that use the arts to achieve this goal. Lucy Crawford, Executive Director of The Norton Foundation, shared her feelings with us regarding the Foundation’s work with the Metro’s non-profit community.

“We all feel, the Trustees and myself, that it’s quite a gift to be involved with the city’s non-profits. I am continually amazed at the creativity and interest in children that we find throughout this community, and we’re pleased and proud to be a part of it. Arts education is a major focus of the Foundation, and Actors’ Education Department and [the New Voices] program exemplify the kind of work we seek to support.”

Since 1990, The Norton Foundation has granted more than $13 million to Louisville institutions serving children through the arts and social services. Actors is proud to welcome the Foundation as a partner as we inspire students to lifelong learning through the arts.

Do you operate or serve on the board of a charitable foundation? We would welcome the opportunity to visit with you and share Actors Theatre’s vision for its community and the American theatre.
